We are excited to announce the latest version of our Data Slicer Power BI visual! This update introduces a new operation mode (Interval). Apart from the preexisting Text box mode you can now use Data Slicer in Interval mode to easily select a range of values. We also enhanced the formatting options and made important bug fixes to improve your user experience. Key highlights include expanded language support for date and number formats, an improved license management system and some performance and stability improvements. New features
- New operation mode: Interval
- Allows input of a range using two fields (From/To values).
- Data type support:
- Numeric (Whole, Decimal): supported
- Text: supported
- The values within the interval are based on the sorting of the column.
- Only works if each of the two input values is part of the column.
- Date: the following formats have been tested
- supported:
- Short Date
- Long Date: handled like a Short Date
- dd/mm/yyy (dd.mm.yyyy)
- dd/mm/yy (dd.mm.yy)
- mmmm yyyy: always takes the first day of the month
- yyyy-mm: always takes the first day of month

- DateTime (General Date): handled like a date without the time (Short Date)

- Now supports the following locales:
- Invalid inputs are highlighted with red text, ensuring clarity.
- Filters apply only when inputs are validated as correct.
- The placeholder text in the input fields, when using datatype date, is automatically set to the appropriate date format. This can be overwritten by configuring a manual text as placeholder.
- Improved licensing features
- New license manager implemented.
- License notifications now inform users of premium features requiring a license, visible only to non-licensed users accessing those features.
- Licensed features are marked with an asterisk (*) for clarity.
- Updated description for license key input settings to guide users effectively.
- Customizable background transparency
- Added transparency adjustment sliders for all background color settings.
Formatting settings changes
- Menu restructuring:
- Placeholder text settings moved to dedicated sections.
- Parameters reorganized into clearer sections for easier navigation.
- New parameters and options:
- Added operation mode toggle: Text box vs. Interval.
- Transparency sliders were added to background settings for Slicer, Text box, and Interval input fields.
- Enhanced visual and accessibility:
- Formatting settings (“Show…”) now appear as toggle switches beside section headers.
- Licensed features are marked with an asterisk (*) for clarity.
- Updated description for license key input settings to guide users effectively.
- Renamed parameters:
- “License key” parameter renamed to “License key input” for better clarity.
Bugfixes
- Resolved layout issues in Text box mode, ensuring correct border calculations.
- Fixed an issue causing constant visual refreshing when a custom license key was applied.
- Addressed brief visibility of default header text and configuration during a refresh.
- Ensured the highlighted frame resets properly when filters are cleared in Text box mode.
- Quick menu icons have been changed because they were cut off sometimes.
Other changes
- Upgraded TypeScript version from 5.1 to 5.6.3.
- Mirrored the filter button icon for consistency.
- Added hover effects for quick menu icons, changing color to a darker grey.
- General performance optimizations for a smoother user experience.
